The Remembrance School of Gentility & Refinement
(RSGAR)
This is the web site for the Remembrance School of Gentility & Refinement, a young ladies finishing school for young
ladies whom are American Civil War reenactors in the Southern California area. The school is run by Mrs. Fickas - Headmistress,
and Miss Laura Scribner - Teacher, director of curriculum. On this site we hope to keep students informed, and attract a broader
audience. We'll use this site to get the word out on our school and create a better sense of our goals among all our
members/students. We'll also include pictures of our work and classes.

Our Goal:
For our young reenacting ladies to have more of a sense of what was expected of the young ladies in the days of the American
Civil War, and when they have completed our series of classes that they should have a Coming Out to be formally presented
to our "society." After their Coming Out it is our wish that these ladies continue to be more involved in the roles
of ladies and relay good historical information to the public.
Lessons
Lessons begin around 9:30 on Saturdays, (unless otherwize stated in the schedule.) They are expected to last
only 1/2 hour so 'soldier girls' can go and join their units. Anyone that wishes to continue with the lesson may do
so until mid-first battle. For any ACWS event the students will then get sashes to help in the Bucket Brigade.
On Sundays after the church services we can work on make-up lessons as anyone wishes, again until mid-first
battle to help in the Bucket Brigade for any ACWS events.

Fuel:
Because we travel to events all over the state to teach and learn in this living historian way, the price
of fuel has a direct impact on our total out of pocket costs.

The Wedding of Miss Laura Scribner
18 December 2007:
Miss Laura Scribner, our first RSGAR graduate and Director, wed her long time bouex Private First Class

followed.
Her Maid of Honor was her young sister, also an RSGAR graduate, Miss Melina. She was also attended
by best friend and RSGAR Honory graduate, Miss Athena, Jonathan's own sister Miss Heidi, our assistant teacher on fashion
and hair, Mademoiselle Felicite`, and RSGAR graduate and our newist staff member, Miss Serafina.
The couple had the great honor to have 10 grandparents present, along with all four parents. Their
